Hawthornes and Cambridge Hosting Weekend Events

hawthornes-cambridge-940Chris Fetfatzes and Heather Annechiarico have been rather busy recently. Their Mexican bar at the corner of 16th and South, Tio Flores looks tantalizingly close now that the paper is down from the windows (we’ve been told it will open within a couple of weeks). And their other two establishments are hosting events this weekend. Hawthornes is hosting their annual fall block party on Saturday, November 7th from noon to 8 p.m. 11th Street will be shut down and there will be live music, food from Hawthornes’ kitchen and fall beers and ciders.

On Sunday, the couple’s South Street West bar, Cambridge will be hosting its annual chili competition. Twelve competitors will go head-to-head in Cambridge’s courtyard to battle for the Best Chili title. Guests will be able to sample from all competitors and vote for their favorites. On tap will be plenty of pumpkin beers including a sour pumpkin IPA, imperial pumpkins and even pumpkin cider. The fun kicks off at 3 p.m.
