Fishtown is already one of the hottest restaurant neighborhoods in Philly, and now things are getting sweeter with the impending opening of Nima Etemadi and Lily Fischer’s Cake Life Bake Shop.
Sure, Cake Life has been up and running in the Globe Dye Works building for the past few years–doing wedding cakes and catering out of their Port Richmond bakery. But for a long time now, they’ve wanted an actual, open-to-the-public brick-and-mortar location. And on Saturday, November 5, they’re going to get one.
That’s the day that Etemadi and Fischer’s new Cake Life all-day cafe is scheduled to open on Frankford Avenue. And beyond the normal excitement we have for any new restaurant opening, there are a couple of cool things about this one. First, they’re jumping right into the middle of the action, opening just steps away from Fishtown heavy-hitters Bottle Bar East and Kensington Quarters.
