New law allows brewpubs to sell PA wine and spirits.
Yesterday, Monday, August 8th was the day Pennsylvania received its runner-up prize to actual liquor privatization with Act 39 passing into law. The main point that has been covered so far is that supermarkets can now sell wine. But that’s only a kind of can, as the separate entrance, separate cafe area requirements that were required to sell beer are in place for wine as well.
Another touted win for consumers is the ability to have wine shipped directly to your home from out of state producers. That brings Pennsylvania into compliance with a U.S. Supreme Court ruling from a decade ago.

Boxcar Brewing is hosting their first (post opening) event at their new brewpub, and it’s going to be a beer pairing event with head chef and brewmaster Jamie Kosher. The beer pairing is a two-night event, held on Tuesday Feb. 24 and Wednesday Feb. 25 at 7 pm both nights.

West Goshen’s Boxcar Brewing Co. is adding a brewpub.
West Chester’s Boxcar Brewing Company is opening a brewpub in downtown West Chester. The brewpub will be at 142 E Market Street, the former home of The Note. The facility, which will also host arcade games, stage and events to appeal to both kids and adults. Owners Jamie and Kymberly Robinson are hoping to open the brewpub before the end of the summer.
