The news from Barra just keeps coming. The double-wide joint opened on June 12 in Old City, added lunch service on June 26, and now they’re announcing a pretty killer lunch deal for you grazers out there.
Starting, well, now, Barra will be selling off its coal-fired pizzas at half-price for anyone who comes in between 11:30am and 3pm and orders a salad. This deal will run all weekdays for the month of July. And as everyone knows, eating a salad totally cancels out the guilt (and calories) of anything else that is consumed alongside it. So go, feel healthy and save a few bucks to boot.
Barra—Gordon Dinerman‘s re-envisioning of Rob LaScala’s Rocchino’s and Azione on Chestnut Street in Old City–opened for dinner service just a couple weeks ago. And now, the announcement has come down that the big 145-seat space will begin serving lunch tomorrow.
There’s no menu in place yet (which, considering we’re under 24 hours before the first lunch plate hits the table, is a little worrisome), but what we do know is that lunch will be running from 11:30am to 2:30pm (with the kitchen remaining open between 2:30 and Happy Hour, which really means that lunch will be served for a bit longer for you procrastinators), and that the kitchen will be offering a burger and 4 to 6 daily lunch specials.
More details as they come through. Keep an eye on this space.
Gordon Dinerman of Birra has recently helped Rob LaScala turn his Rocchino’s and Azione spots in Old City into one, larger restaurant called Barra. Rocchino’s and Azione were established at 2nd and Chestnut for six months before LaScala turned to Dinerman to relaunch the two as one, which was facilitated by a previous open connection between the two restaurants.
