There’s always a lot of going on along the Thirteenth Street empire of Valerie Safran and Marcie Turney, although recently, it has been extra newsworthy.

Craig LaBan visited the post BYOT Lolita and rewarded the Safran and Turney’s original restaurant two-bells, though he predictably does gripe about the noise.

It’s A Summer Seafood Party On 13th Street

summerseafood.jpgSummer ain’t over yet. At least not on 13th Street, where Marcie Turney and Val Safran are running three nights of seafood specials at their restaurants to celebrate all the bountiful (and delicious) sea critters we eat during the hottest months.

From Sunday, August 10, through Tuesday, August 12, there will be special seafood-inspired menus, with beverage pairings, offered at each of their four popular Midtown Village restaurants. We’re talking ceviches at Lolita, a crab boil at Jamonera, lobster spaghetti at Little Nonna’s, and a mixed seafood grill at Barbuzzo. The dinners are running $45 per person (which includes a paired drink), excluding tax and gratuity. Check out all the menus after the jump.

Yes, they’re back. Frozen Budino Pops have returned to Midtown Village. Beginning Friday, July 11th summer on 13th street can officially begin.

All hail the return of chef Marcie Turney and Valerie Safran’s ever so decadent, totally scrumptious, melt-in-your mouth dessert. If you’ve never tasted the perfection that is the frozen budino pop, its the grown-up version of your favorite summer popsicle.

Chef Turney wraps a core of magic salted caramel and dark chocolate cookie crumbs with frozen caramel pudding, then hand-dips it in happiness dark chocolate and sprinkles Maldon sea salt on top. The pops are a seasonal play on the best-selling Budino dessert offered at the restaurant duo’s acclaimed Barbuzzo.
