Realtors Accused of Animal-Dumping Put House Back on Market

ISplpnodb2by7g1000000000

It was quite a scandal: Two real estate agents who had their house on the market across the street from another house for sale were accused of trying to sabotage their neighbor’s sale by knocking down signs and dumping dead animals on her property. Both agents denied the charges and retained a lawyer to file a defamation suit.

Now they’ve put their house back on the market after a hiatus. It was first listed in April at 1.149 million. It was taken off the market in July, shortly after the scandal erupted. Now it’s being relisted by National Realty Old City LLC for $1.025 million.

Iliana Strauss Lists Pep Boys Estate Designed By Walter K. Durham

haverford estate

Iliana Strauss, the widow of Pep Boys heir Ben Strauss (son of Mo), has put her grand, 8,000-square-foot Haverford home designed by Walter K. Durham on the market for about $2 million. The nine-bedroom home, designed by Lower Merion’s most famous and prolific architect, may look historic-stone-and-ivy from the front, but from the back and indoors, it’s actually a mix of styles, insistently surprising the eye. In many rooms, for instance, there are random-width oak floors. But the kitchen is spare, and feels thoroughly contemporary.

The home sits on almost one-and-a-half acres of beautifully landscaped grounds with a pool, a pool house, an outdoor kitchen and grill, and a carriage house with an apartment. The photos tell the rest of the tale. Note the Pep Boys decor.

Main Line Monday: Horace Trumbauer-Designed Home Ready for Golf Open

6210626_1

In a feat of perfect timing, this house overlooking the Merion Golf Course went on the market last month, just ahead of the 2013 US Golf Open. While it’s unlikely someone would purchase a home simply for perfect access to a two-week event, they might indeed make the purchase because the three-story Georgian colonial was designed by famed architect Horace Trumbauer. Additionally, there’s so much odd but lovable fabulousness: the trompe l’oeil bookshelves, the wood-paneled library, the phenomenal wallpaper, the hanging bed, the framed Peyton Manning jersey–oh, wait, that last one is maybe less fabulous.

The home is on almost 3.5 acres with a manicured garden, and it has a sun porch, six fireplaces, a playroom, a pool and a pool house/cottage with a kitchen and bath.

10 Main Line Homes Where Tiger Woods Could Sleep During the U.S. Golf Open

2013-us-open-merion-golf-club-hole-11th-QuintEvents

The 2013 USGA Open Championship will be held at the Merion Golf Club this year, and that means many overnight guests will come for at least a week in June and need places to stay–including odds-on favorite Tiger Woods. Savvy Main Line property owners are taking advantage of the influx of moneyed spectators by charging unfathomable (though obviously quite plausible) rental prices, some of them just for a driveway or lawn. As with other large sporting events, the closer the home is to the venue, the higher the price, but with golf, there’s a little wrinkle as its fans like to stay on the venue if possible. So the homes that charge the most are on the golf club grounds.
