Rittenhouse Square Law Offices: “The Office” Meets “Mad Men” But Less Funny

Imagine Scranton, Pa., on Rittenhouse Square. Plop the office of The Office behind a 4-story historical facade. Quarantine paper execs in single offices with depressing furniture that looks to have come from a shuttered Red Rose Inn. Wait a few seasons, and set Mad Men in there, and have Don crush a cigarette out on the sofa arm in a fit of melancholy. That’s kind of the feeling you get from the decor of this former law office, as Estately blogger Ryan Nickum pointed out in an email.

But forget the decor. As an investment, it’s a solid bet. There are eight office suites in a location that could fetch a good price for commercial space. There’s also an (occupied) apartment on the top floor that gets rented out; it has a roof deck, and given the location surely generates significant income.

Italianate Montco Home Gets a Wee Price Cut

The lovely Italianate home in Mainland, PA, profiled here before has gone from $479,900 to $469,900. It is a lovely home–but perhaps changing the wallpaper and ripping up the carpeting are perceived extra costs that make buyers nervous?

Whatever the reason, a good deal on a five-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath home just got better.

US Open Last-Minute Rentals: There’s Still Time

So Tiger will not drown in some kind of Biblical flood after all, despite the most sophisticated meteorological forecasts that suggested he might. The game will go on, and for those who want to see the players as they proceed along this notoriously difficult course–especially holes 14 to 18–there may be some last-minute weekend rentals within a manageable price range.

Below are some rentals we’ve spotted on airbnb that would make some sense. They’re listed as available for this weekend, but of course, there’s no guarantee.

Three Most Expensive Rittenhouse Square Sales This Week, Including Cary Borish’s Condo

The most expensive Rittenhouse home that sold this week was at 10 Rittenhouse. It’s a 3,700-square-foot, three-bedroom unit with a den and four-and-a-half bathrooms, plus all the things we’ve come to expect from the building: the superb kitchen appliances, the amenities (indoor pool, fitness club, chauffeured Mercedes, 24-hour doorman, etc.) Garage parking seems pricey at $50,000 per year, but whoever paid $3.55 million for the unit may well be able to afford it. The buyer’s agent was Marianne Harris of Dranoff Properties.
