Leanna and Simon’s fairytale wedding day brought two families and cultures together, as the groom is originally from New Zealand. The couple made sure to design the seating arrangements so that each of their families could get to know each other. To honor both of their cultures, an American flag and a New Zealand flag were placed inside the church, and outside the reception venue. At the end of the night, Simon’s family and friends, who flew all the way from New Zealand, performed the Hakka, a traditional dance of the Maori People, which is used as a hearty welcome in their culture, as well as for entertainment and merriment for special occasions. By the end of the evening, it felt like everyone had known each other for years.
The bride and groom were escorted to the reception in a white vintage Rolls-Royce. The guests were welcomed with two flags that hung above the door—one, USA for the bride, and the other, New Zealand for the groom.
