It looks like a bunch of buildings in Old City are about to hit the market–including the homes of Buddakan, a Ritz Movie Theatre and The Bourse.

Natalie Kostelni of the Philadelphia Business Journal reports that the Kaiserman Co. is about to list its four-building portfolio in and around the historic district, which could offer “a rare opportunity for an investor to quickly establish a footprint in Philadelphia.” The buildings include 400 Market Street, 325 Chestnut Street (where Buddakan lives), 111 South Independence Mall East (The Bourse) and 401 Ranstead Street, home to the Ritz Movie Theater.

We can’t begin to speculate about what this might mean for your A/C mooching needs this summer at The Bourse, but Kostelni also reports each building could possibly be sold separate from the group.

Bringing Engine 46 Back to Life:

Designer Shila Scarlet Griffith has a distinct vision for the long-vacant Engine 46 in Pennsport. While we give you a snippet, you should definitely give the whole piece a read.

The old fire house’s potential reuse for themed dining is too seductive to avoid, so with our design concept we felt it only appropriate to celebrate the origin of Flemish architecture with a Belgian restaurant and gourmet chocolate shop. Our concept board conveys the richness of Flemish architecture and interior design. We also pulled inspiration from the middle ages and a concept menu that would reflect that of the Lowland Burgundian Era–specialty game meats with rich sauces and complemented by potato dishes, red wine, and an extensive list of Belgian beer. A model for this nationality immersion concept and vertical integration of bar, restaurant, and sweet shop, might be the Gran Caffe L’Aquila on Chestnut Street in Center City.
