Spotted in Society Hill: Condo With House Hunters International Ties

Admit it, you’ve definitely killed solid chunk of your weekend watching episode after episode HGTV’s House Hunters International. Do you happen to remember the one where the Layden family bought a vacation home in the Abruzzo region of Italy? Well, they’re from Philly and they just listed the Society Hill home that was semi-featured during the taping of the show. (Spoiler alert: the snippet with their choice is after the jump.)
Andrea Layden said that they’ve lived in the home for 12 years and like the fact that “our backyard is essentially Washington Square.” The home itself is a garden unit in the St. James Court community–so you get a generous patio space and access to the large interior courtyard, which the home also overlooks.
Inside, the home has a spacious open floor plan with a newly renovated kitchen. Unlike the little bungalow they purchased in Italy (oops), the home in Philly has plenty of room for a family and tons of storage space to boot (no pun intended). There are 10 closets, including a walk-in big enough that it’s currently being used as another room.
Naturally, the question you’ve been waiting to ask is if the Layden’s are packing up shop and heading to Italy full time? Nope. They’re currently looking to stay in Society Hill. [It’s] exciting, and also more work than you would think. Looking at the properties and buying our dream home with all of its potential was very exciting. But, this is television, so we had long days of driving windy roads through the Italian countryside to get from place to place. And with two toddlers at the time! They were wonderful, the crew was great and, in the end, we got everything we could have hoped for and more.
