Rescue Workers Find Body of Man Trapped After Bucks County Silo Collapse

Firefighters discovered the body of Anthony Gabriele Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters recovered the body of the man presumed to be dead due to the Thursday’s silo collapse at a Bucks County industrial complex along the Delaware River. The Bucks County Courier Times reports that firefighters, who used their hands to dig through the tons of powdered concrete, found the body of 49-year-old Anthony Gabriele “near an outside office trailer next to the collapsed silo” around 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

Rescue workers faced difficult conditions, but were determined to find Gabriele and bring closure to the family:

“It had become personal to everyone here,” [Edgley Fire Co. Chief Carl] Pierce said. “We made a promise to the (Gabriele) family that we would get him out and that’s what we did. It was very important to everyone.”

The investigation into what caused the collapse is ongoing.
