The since demolished Broad Street Armory that ignited opposing arguments from locals is in the news again. Sort of. The building next door, a Torre Big & Tall, has the spotlight this time with news of its spring closure.

Torre, currently owned by Mark Rosenfeld, began as a menswear store called Rosenfeld & Cohen, and has been a South Broad staple for over three decades. Citing family reasons for his departure, Rosenfeld plans to shut it down in coming months and put it up for sale soon after.

The question is whether this will have developer Michael Carosella perking up his ears. His plans for the former Armory space include 50 apartment units and ground floor retail, but additional commercial space doesn’t sound like a shabby idea, no?
