Former Area Resident Sells Most Expensive Home on Island Estates in Clearwater

Realtor Marcy Daniels broke a sales record in the Phillies' spring stomping grounds.

Marcy and Scott Daniel both went to Upper Dublin High School, both became Realtors, both moved to Clearwater, Fla., and both got married — to each other. It all happened gradually, with Marcy making the Philly-to-Florida move in 1976, and Scott following 10 years later. Before then, Scott taught school in Lower Merion, got a master’s degree at Temple, and was stationed at the Willow Grove Naval Air Station. And when they moved, they kept their Philadelphia spirit intact by living in Clearwater, the site of the Phillies spring training.

Marcy just broke a sales record by selling a four-bedroom, 6,500-square-foot home for $3.1 million — the highest price ever paid for a home on a particular island next to Clearwater Beach.

The home was built in 2006 and has amenities like a 1,000-bottle wine cellar, a music room, a game room with bar, a two-tier heated spa, an outdoor kitchen with grill, a home theater/media room, and — appropriately for the location — a deep water dock with jet ski lifts and a 3,000 lb. boat lift.

Scott says Philadelphians come to Clearwater all the time, of course, for spring training. But they buy in Clearwater, too. Once, Scott and Marcy even met two people they’d gone to high school with. You can take the folks out of Philly, but the Philly will always cling.
