Lovely as they may be, skyline prints can be a little cliché. At least that’s what we thought before stumbling onto an Etsy gem that made us love them all over again!

Luxurious home décor meets fun artwork to make a charming union on this crisp white duvet. The inky image design of the Philadelphia cityscape is possibly what gives this otherwise “soft to the touch” clean cover its friendly character. The included pillow cases with high flying birds add to the already pleasant bedspread.

Meanwhile, a bright red rendering of the LOVE statue pops out from the black and white façade, clearly announcing what town is displayed (as if the familiar skyscrapers and William Penn statue a top City Hall didn’t give it away).

April Melchior, the novice business owner behind Urban Work Textiles, started her “newborn baby” company from her home this past June. The South Philly resident’s mission? “To get fun, functional pieces of art in your home, with original designs and quality products.” Fun and functional, indeed.

Besides being handmade, the blanket is made to order. Meaning, this awesome cotton quilt will be tailored to your bed’s size. $375 for a twin, $514 for a full / queen, and $545 for a king-sized.

$514 for a full is pretty costly………… possible to change the color scheme since they are “custom/handmade and cost as much as a month’s rent in killadelphia?”
I get the whole artist thing……. but with a good wholesale/manufacturing/export contract that cost to produce could be recudced drastically. They should fly off the shelves which would mean they could be sold at a reasonable price- $120 for full size…… $100 for twin/college dorm…….$200 for $160 for Queen and $200 for King………… Who has $514 for a bedspread/duvet/pillow cover set???????

It is pretty expensive. Since it’s made by an independent artist and not a megastore with a factory in China, the cost of production is probably higher. Still, the use of the word “killadelphia” kind of ruins the civic spirit of the thing.

Duvet covers from Target cost around what you’re describing, and as Liz said, using a factory in China. Because these are American made and made to order, production cost is likely much higher than ordering thousands from some factory in China.
