Homeowners! Friday the 13th Approaches, and It May Be Your Lucky Day

Grant_Wood_-_American_Gothic_-_Google_Art_Project-1Warning: What you are about to see is real.

FRIDAY IS THE FINAL DEADLINE FOR THE HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION APPLICATION.

If you don’t know what we’re talking about, allow us to channel the City of Philadelphia for just a moment (including its awkward capitalizations):

What is the Homestead Exemption?
The Homestead Exemption offers Real Estate Tax savings to all Philadelphia homeowners by reducing the taxable portion of their property assessment by $30,000, starting in Tax Year 2014.

Who is eligible?
You must simply own the property and live in it as your primary residence. There are no other requirements.

How do I apply?
Apply over the phone! Call the Homestead Hotline at 215-686-9200 to easily apply in minutes. Language access services are also available to apply over the phone in numerous languages.

Or apply online.

Or print the application [go to the website for more options].

Once you are approved, you will get the Exemption every year, unless you move or the deed to your property changes.

Remember: If the deed to your property changes–for any reason–the Homestead will be removed from your property and you MUST reapply to receive the Homestead.

HOTLINE HOURS:
Wednesday, September 11th and Thursday, September 12th: 8 am – 8 pm
Friday, September 13th: 8 am – 8:30 pm.
