New G-Ho Apartment Building With Retail Space Coming to 23rd and South

At tonight’s South of South Neighborhood Association (SOSNA) zoning committee meeting, developers will present plans for a new five-story building designed by the architecture firm Plumbob. The new building would occupy the triangle that currently houses a parking lot and a beige brick building that was once a theater, according to Hidden City.

The developer is Jason Nusbaum, owner of Rittenhouse and South Square markets. He’s looking for approval for a five-story building with 4,600 square feet for ground-floor retail space and room for 24 one- and two-bedroom rental apartments above. One rumored ground-floor tenant? Starbucks. But Nusbaum tells Hidden City such a guess is “putting the cart before the horse” given that zoning approval hasn’t even been obtained.

Just a thought, don’t get me wrong I like Cox…but if you could bring in quality starter’s at other positions…who would you trade for Jarius Byrd?

    • Anon

Wait, you’d trade our first round draft pick and arguably best player on defense for a player that’s going to be a UFA next year, may have a lisfranc injury, and is the type of player that will hold out all summer for max money? Nah, i’ll pass.

      • Will

Na Cole or Graham or Barkley would be better trade bait….Byrd wants out of Buffalo…just kicking tires on how to improve Defense…Trades are a better option than waiver wire picking thru cuts…

        • Anon

I agree, I think people are on Byrd’s jock b/c he’s decent and soon to be a FA — i just think he’s not a great choice. I guess we’ll see how’s available next year.

          • Will

No just want a better Defense, how long as Dawk been gone? Nate Allen was great till he got hurt. Not the same player for whatever the reason.

          • UKEagle99

Will, go dig out your 1991 season DVDs and get your D on. As for this year, I think our defensive scheme revolves around “we are going to score 1 more than you”.

          • Will

1980,1990,1991,2008 D Highlights for sure….the we are gonna score more than you plan will crash and burn in it’s debut on MNF….due to lack of Defense….

          • UKEagle99

Good years :-) I didn’t see ’80, though I’ve read about it. I think if you step back, remove the emotion and look at our team play last year, 2 things above all else come to mind. 1) The OLine was woeful and B) The defense, as a whole was woeful, yes there were bright spots but how bright did you really need to be to shine? I think I could have looked good at safety!

I think most will agree those were the main issues, you can break the D down further but really you have more needs than locks.

So…. The draft rolls around…. Now, you are getting all your projected starters from 2012 back on the OLine, so your priorities are… Defense?

You know what happened, we drafted 1 defensive player (a tackle, arguably one of the strongest positions) in the 1st 4 rounds. Knowing we were replacing the entire back 4 we started to address it in round 5. Now, I know some will argue free agency and yes we did upgrade at corner (my Mom was an upgrade at corner) but to me it was “arse about face”, pardon my French. Obviously there were no highly graded D players available when we picked.

          • Will

Yup agreed RT in first round O-line fixed, now 2nd,3rd,4th and 5th picks Defense all day long…..instead of a TE who drops balls and a 3rd string QB just puzzling…so you get your safety help after 3rd string QB? Priorities gentlemen, priorities….

  • Will

Here’s a question ? Why do the Eagle’s keep bringing in player’s with previous knee injuries?

    • UKEagle99

Start with a cage containing five monkeys, let’s call them Banner…. Lol no let’s keep it anonymous :-)

In the cage, hang a banana on a string and put stairs under it. Before long, a monkey will go to the stairs and start to climb towards the banana.
As soon as he touches the stairs, spray all of the monkeys with cold water.
After a while, another monkey will make an attempt with the same response – all of the monkeys are sprayed with cold water. Keep this up for several days.
      Turn off the cold water.
If, later, another monkey tries to climb the stairs, the other monkeys will try to prevent it even though no water sprays them.
Now, remove one monkey from the cage and replace it with a new one.
The new monkey sees the banana and wants to climb the stairs. To his horror, all of the other monkeys attack him. After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to climb the stairs, he will be assaulted.
Next, remove another of the original five monkeys and replace it with a new one. The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment with enthusiasm.
Replace the third original monkey with a new one. The new one makes it to the stairs and is attacked as well. Two of the four monkeys that beat him have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs, or why they are participating in the beating of the newest monkey.
After replacing the fourth and fifth original monkeys, all the monkeys which have been sprayed with cold water have been replaced. Nevertheless, no monkey ever again approaches the stairs.
      Why not?
Because that’s the way it’s always been done around here.

        I know been watching the ” Monkey Circus ” for 41 season’s….

        • UKEagle99

I feel your pain buddy, I’m only 26 years in. You get less jail time for murder over here.

    • BlindChow

The Prophecy states that a player with but one knee shall limp into the Linc and deliver the franchise from evil.

  • therealpistolp

First 3 pick from 2011… Cut Juice!! Has to be one of the worse drafts ever…

  • Run Eagles Run

Why not see if the kid can still play safety?

  • Run Eagles Run

well they just picked up a safety Trenton Robinson who was waived by 49ers. speculation is Gamble made the recommendation. sounds like a smart pick up.

    • Token

Well watched about 2 minutes of his 2011 game against Wisconsin. Kid bites hard on play action.

Read a report on him saying he is good in zone coverage, willing hitter.

      • Run Eagles Run

thanks for the info, he cant be much worse than nate allen and coleman, but that cant be the bar at which we measure our safetys

  • What Would Saracen Do?

Seriously, he sounds like he’s a 12 year old. I don’t think he realizes the amount of paper work and “hurry up and wait” that is involved with all of those jobs.

If he really wants his life to be action packed, he should work harder to stay in the NFL. Guaranteed weekly competition against some of the best in the world without the boredom and then 10 seconds of terror and confusion that come with all of those jobs he listed.

  • BlindChow

Yeah, but Jarrett didn’t have the requisite number of knee problems.

  • Anon
  • Gary

Yeah, Andy Greenwald’s Breaking Bad recaps are second to none in my opinion.

  • Anon

They were top 10 last year (even w/out Revis) so yeah, i’d say one of the better.

  • Warhound

They called the Astrodome the “House of Pain”; well, they had the house but the Eagles brought the pain. Damn, it was great watching their WRs wobbling to the sidelines!

  • Stephen Staedtler

No need to bring Jesus into this Media Mike. Not sure why you capitalize his name and swear in a post that involves a cornerback.

  • Run Eagles Run

easily solved, give him a job as an inner city teacher in the offseason.

  • Bird of Prey

I heard they are putting him up at the YMCA……. (I know it’s bad, butI couldn’t resist) Watched Bridgewater and all I can say is trade everything for him next year.

  • UKEagle99

It certainly was! Seth Joyner was a star amongst stars that night, apart from an INT & a safety he had every defensive play on his stat sheet. He drilled them “speedy little …” in to the astro turf!

  • laeagle

Because Jesus made it dark before the dawn. Then the dawn broke, and Prater got a job. That was what Jesus was working on today, despite all the stuff going on in the world. I support Media Mike for bringing HIS name into this discussion.

  • Will

The 49er’s drafted a Safety in the 1st RD. No wonder they have a Tremendous Defense. Thanks watching the 2012 Outback bowl. Guess who get’s burned on a double move by slot receiver for the game’s first touchdown ? That explains why he went in the sixth RD, the Eagles never learn.

  • Will

So the Jags pick up Clay Harbour and McCoy, wonder if a trade with Jacksonville was ever considered before they cut them? Oh well no John Cyprien, D.J. Swaringer, Laron Landry, Dashon Goldson, Glover Quin, or heck Yeremiah Bell was out there too. So Chung,Wolfe,Robinson…Phillips gone already….Gee whiz no options at Safety.

  • Will

Cyprien and Quin ….DRC, Boykin and Williams….Oh well can Dream…..

  • FluxCapacitor

The Eagles were ranked #15 in total defense last year. Do you really want to use that stat to judge? They (Jets) were not that good.

  • BlindChow

Aren’t you the guy who’s upset about people picking through our leftovers?

  • Will

Chung and Allen….Fletcher, Boykin and Williams….Sigh…Could of built a Secondary going Cyprien and Quin ….DRC, Boykin and Williams….Oh well can Dream…..So here is a blueprint of what DB’s that should be in Eagles Mid-night Green uniforms, this was a realistic and reachable goal. Then you would have a formidable secondary that might scare someone……

  • Will

Harbour, McCoy, and Sheppard….Marsh gone already, Matthews?, Nate Allen? Na just think waiver wires not the way to build…really think it’s rare to find a starter here…who knows this Team does nothing but surprise me with moves…

  • Cal

dude read what the purpose of that articles is. it says it at the top.
