The Perks of Living in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Neighborhood

Discover Philadelphia’s Fairmount Neighborhood.

Known for the hub of museums and attractions along the Ben Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia’s Fairmount neighborhood offers much more than top tourist attractions. The streets are lined with beautiful row homes, and the area attracts both families and young professionals. Fairmount has the added bonus of being a short hop (jog, walk or bike ride) from the Schuylkill River trail and scenic Kelly Drive.

The main street in the district, Fairmount Avenue, is home to a variety of restaurants, bars and shops. Take a stroll down the street and visit popular eateries like the 19th-century firehouse-turned-restaurant, Jack’s Firehouse; modern Mexican favorite, La Calaca Feliz; or BYOB café, OTC. Grab a drink at an outdoor table at Bishops Collar and make your way to the steps outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art to people watch and admire the architecture and nearby fountains and sculptures. Take a walk down the Schuylkill River Trail for great views of the river and city as runners and bikers zoom by. You may even catch some rowers or a regatta on the Schuylkill. The neighborhood also offers easy access to Fairmount Park, one of the largest urban park systems in the country.
