This 2 bedroom Rittenhouse Square rental is a knockout, from the wallpaper and the molding to the marble and granite finishes. We can’t say enough about it that the photos don’t express more effectively. At 2,716 square feet, the 1900 Rittenhouse unit is large enough for at least two people but could also work for three if the library is used as a bedroom.
The 18-story building was erected in the 1920s and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Rentals there are rare now that it’s all condos. This rental is $6,000 per month. A 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath with similar dimensions (including a third room) sold in December for $900,000.
So what to do? Rent or buy? Assuming some standard variables (excellent credit, 30-year mortgage, 5 percent interest rate, etc.) and that you’re planning to stay in the residence beyond two years, you’d be better off buying in the building. If you’re only planning to stay a year or two, though, renting is the better option financially. Even at $6,000 per month, which is the priciest 2 bedroom condo rental on the Square.
