Old City Eats Kicks Off Second Summer With Block Party

They're taking over 2nd Street for an evening of food, drink, and live music.

During summertime in the city, Thursday really is the new weekend: with everyone heading out of town for weekend fun at the shore or other vacation spots, socializing over a drink or two within city limits gets bumped up a few days.

To ensure that you’re still getting your recommended weekly allowance of food and drink specials, Old City Eats has returned for a second season — and they’re kicking off the summer with an outdoor block party next week.

The block party on June 15th, which runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m, will take over 2nd Street between Market and Chestnut Streets. Fifteen Old City Eats participants, as well as Franklin Fountain and Mama’s Meatballs, will offer specials for the event, which includes live jazz from The Kelli Vale Trio. Latin soul band The Cintron Trio will also perform on Cuba Libre’s patio.

Old City Eats happens every Thursday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm through August 31st at more than 25 restaurants and bars in the neighborhood. Spots like High Street on Market, Capofitto, and The Khyber Pass Pub will offer at least one half-priced appetizer and at least one $4 beer and one $5 cocktail.
