  • Introduce both sets of parents, if you haven't already. Check out our restaurant database to find the perfect meeting place!
  • Start thinking about what type of wedding is right for you: a raucous blowout or an intimate sit-down? Black-tie or beach chic? Think about size, formality, color scheme and style. Search though real weddings and get inspired!
  • Establish a preliminary budget. And don't assume anything: Talk to your parents (and his) about whether they'll be contributing.
  • Begin tearing out pictures and ideas from magazines that inspire you and keep them all in a wedding folder, binder or organizer. Later, keep all important contacts, numbers, receipts, and business cards here for easy, organized access.

  • Hire a wedding consultant, if desired, and solicit friends and family for vendor recommendations, or search through our favorite vendors.

  • Select and reserve ceremony and reception sites. See if your favorite venue has your date available, by using partyspace.com's venue calendar .
  • Book photographer and videographer, search through our favorites.
  • Interview florists and musicians or browse through our picks. Bring photos to your florist, so they know exactly what you are looking for. Make your selections and send deposits to reserve.

  • Book officiant.
