Philly Magazine's Wedding Checklist

  • If you haven't booked travel plans in your maiden name, look into changing your last name (if you have purchased tickets or made hotel reservations, wait until after the honeymoon so your ID is still valid). Contact the Social Security Administration for a new card and your local department of motor vehicles for a new license.
(Helpful hint: You should order extra certified copies of your marriage certificate as they may be required by certain agencies for changes.)
  • Send change-of-address notice to the post office, if necessary.
  • Confirm all reservations for accommodations (out-of-town guests, wedding night) and honeymoon.
  • Write thank-you notes for gifts already received.
  • Apply for a marriage license at your local City Hall and get blood tests, if necessary.
