Drinking
For Statistics Fetishists Only: In case you’re wondering what I do at night, I sit around wondering how much wine Marc Vetri orders at Osteria each year and how many bottles of booze Stephen Starr buys at El Vez and then I call the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board to find out. And then I stay up until three in the morning making a sortable spreadsheet of the info I find so that you can have it at your fingertips, in case you just can’t sleep tonight until you know. OK. Just humor me. Please. Click on the headers to sort. Details
Movie Openings
West Side Story: In honor of the 50th anniversary of the American classic, the Kimmel Center is showing the winner of 10 (yes, 10!) Academy Awards while the Philadelphia Orchestra accompanies it live. Not exactly sure how they’re going to make all this sync up perfectly, but it sure does sound like fun to me… although the ticket prices are a bit on the steep side, topping out at $119.  Details

Now that we’ve got that straight, tickets are still available for Barbra’s Monday night show at the Wells Fargo Center. $500 on ComcastTix and starting at $137 on StubHub. Details

STAGE
La Bohème: If you’re a fan of ye olde opera, get thee to the Academy of Music this weekend for Puccini’s biggest hit. I was unable to attend last week’s opening of La Bohème, but the young lady I sent reported lots of overwhelming emotions and an incredible set design, which uses a bunch of animated versions of paintings from La Bohème’s era, taken from the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Barnes.
