Best of Philly 2007 Dessert, Suburbs

The Inn at St. Peter's Village

It can be maddening to fall in love with any one of pastry chef Peter Scarola’s sculptural desserts at French-accented New American restaurant Inn at St. Peter’s Village, because they move on and off the menu according to his whim. The good news is that they’re all well worth the drive to the northern fringe of Chester County. Whether Scarola is carving pea-size scoops of caramelized pear “pearls,” floating milky vanilla foam through hollowed-out fresh figs, adding saffron to fresh peach sorbet, or layering hazelnuts, dark chocolate and raspberries, the finished composition is sure to wow.
