“White is not typical for this type of house,” says Newell, “but it’s what I gravitate toward.” The foyer dates to 1836. The candlelight sconces are original. The bell-jar pendant is reproduction. Yardley’s Virginia Young painted the tone-on-tone diamond pattern on the pine-plank floor. Antiquing in Cape May netted the pier mirror. Trove had the classic settee reupholstered in white linen from Ikea and Amy Karyn linen burlap.
