PW Reader Ring: Holly & Ben!

The couple: Holly Orr and Ben Ashton, from Philadelphia.

The ring: Ben and I had gone to Steven Singer on Jeweler’s Row a few months before he proposed, and I fell in love with this rose gold ring (it’s called the Olivia ring). I always wanted rose gold, because it is what I usually wear, and it seems sort of classic with a twist.

I let Ben decide if that was the ring he wanted to get, and I am so happy that he did! I liked it in both white and rose gold, and am really glad he chose rose gold. It makes my ring feel that much more special since it is less common. The staff at Steven Singer was great and so helpful to us, kept us in budget and cared about what we both wanted.

The proposal: Ben proposed in Strathmere, the shore town that I have spent with my family every summer since I was born. The beach is my happy place, so it was the perfect location for this major memory in our lives.

On the day it happened, I totally knew it was coming, he can’t hide anything from me! He made sure I packed a cute cover up and wouldn’t let me share a bag with him for our beach day. We were with my family, so we walked a little bit away and he got down on one knee. As we walked back to the group, I saw a big sign saying, “She said yes!”, more family, and champagne waiting for us to celebrate. It was great, even though I knew it was happening!!

The band: We went back to Steven Singer and I picked out a stackable band that is similar to the band of the engagement ring, just slightly different shape and smaller size. I love it because it’s in keeping with the delicate feel of my engagement ring. And down the road, I think the ring will look great with another stackable ring on the other side (hint hint to my fiance!).
