PW Reader Ring: Shauna & Ian!

It was quite an eventful proposal day for this local bride-to-be.

Shauna's ring!

Shauna’s ring!

The couple: Shauna Byrnes and Ian Hammer, from Norristown.

The ring: My amazing ring is white gold, with a cushion-cut diamond on a twisted diamond band.

As much as I hate saying this, I pretty much picked out my ring. I was browsing Pinterest one day several months back and saw this ring. I completely fell in love with it because it was classic yet different. I asked Ian what he thought about it and he agreed that it was perfect. Little did I know he saved that picture and showed it to the jeweler at Steven Singer when he went to pick out a ring.

The proposal: This April, I ran the Philadelphia Love Half Marathon. If I thought there was going to be a proposal, I would have bet money that it would happen at the finish line. Running is something very special to me and several of our friends and family members were at the finish line, so it was the perfect set up. Well … It didn’t happen … And that’s okay!

Anyway, Ian had asked to take me out to dinner later that day to celebrate completing another big race, and I obviously agreed. On our way back to his parents house, he mentioned his sister needed my help choosing an outfit once we got home. Once we got there, though, I went inside to find his sister standing in the living room, no longer wearing sweatpants but dressed in a cute outfit … I was definitely confused at this point.

She handed me a card and a single rose. Inside that card was a poem that led to another card and rose in Ian’s house. In total, there were five cards with five roses. The last card said I needed to come outside, where I would find Ian on one knee. At this point I was shaking because I truly couldn’t believe it was happening. When I walked outside, my family and Ian’s were there … And Ian was down on one knee with flowers and my ring. Saying yes to Ian was the easiest thing I’ve ever had to do. It was absolutely perfect and I cannot wait to be his wife.

The band: I am really excited because Steven Singer has a band that matches the band on my engagement ring. The twisted band was one of the reasons I loved this engagement ring from the get go so I’m very excited there is a matching wedding band to go with it.
