PW Reader Ring: Allie & Tim!

The ring: My ring has a princess-cut center stone with a diamond halo set in white gold by Natalie K.

Tim picked it out on his own at our family friend’s shop, Browne’s Jewelers, in Delanco, New Jersey. We had never gone shopping together, but I had sent him pictures before, so he had an idea of what I liked. I also told John, the owner of the store, what I liked, too, so I knew I was in good hands.

The proposal: Tim and my sister, Samantha, had been plotting together for a couple of weeks: Samantha planned for us to go to a wine festival at Tyler State Park in Newtown, and Tim had been acting like he didn’t want to go because the Eagles were playing the Redskins at 1 o’clock that day, and he wanted to watch the game.

We went, though, and when we got to the park, there was a beautiful stream with big rocks that we came up to. He told me he wanted to check to see if he could see any fish in there, and I followed him. After “looking for fish” for a minute, I turned to him and he told me he loved me and then pulled out the box. I thought it was a joke until he got down on one knee and showed me the most gorgeous ring I had ever seen.

After saying “Oh my god” about 100 times, I screamed “YES!” When he got up off the ground, he told me to look behind me and I saw my whole family and his whole family walking out of hiding where they witnessed the whole thing. I immediately started crying all over again. Samantha even got the whole thing on video. There was no actual wine fest, and instead we went back to my sister’s house to celebrate. When I walked in the door, Tim had my five best friends all standing there to surprise me. It was the most perfect day.

The band: I think my band will be very similar to the band on my engagement ring.  I love how thin it is, and all the beautiful diamonds that surround it.
