Meet Philly’s Newest Calligrapher: The Paperly Studio

Here's a look at Dianna's work.

Here’s a look at place cards Dianna created for a wedding.

There’s a whole host of reasons why we love social media, but perhaps our favorite part about Facebook, Twitter and Instagram is that they give us an opportunity to discover and connect with new local wedding vendors who are not currently on our radar. In fact, just yesterday we were introduced (via Facebook) to Chester County-based calligrapher Dianna Crystle, who recently started her own business, The Paperly Studio—we can’t wait to tell you about the services she offers for weddings.

Dianna’s interest in hand-lettered art forms began in a high school calligraphy class; she has always loved the uniqueness of calligraphy and the amount of creativity that goes into it. But it wasn’t until recently that she decided to turn her passion into a business: When a ten-year career in environmental science left her craving something new, Dianna signed up for a modern calligraphy workshop here in Philly (we wrote about it!) and was instantly hooked.

After many nights spent practicing her script, Dianna began developing new letter forms—so far, she’s mastered four elegant styles—and last December, The Paperly Studio was born.

Now Dianna is working her calligraphy magic on all sorts of paper products for weddings: invitation suites, envelopes, menus, escort cards. She consults with each couple to learn more about them and their style preferences and then creates a few different mockups for them to choose from.

You can take a peek at Dianna’s portfolio here and see samples of her work on Instagram. We’ve also pulled a few examples for you to check out below.
