PW Reader Ring: Jenna & Brian!

Jenna's ring!

Jenna’s ring!

The coupleJenna Sheridan and Brian Murphy from Hatfield.

The ring: My ring is a white gold cushion-shaped halo surrounding a round brilliant diamond, with a triple band. I swore for years that I wanted a solitaire round diamond, but when I went and tried that style on, I hated the way it looked on my finger.

We went to Steven Singer Jewelers together one Saturday and there were a few rings that I liked. The salesman said he had one that he thought I would love but it was over our budget and he didn’t want me to fall in love with it unless Brian was OK with it. Brian said yes and as soon as the ring was within two feet of me I knew it was the one. My cheeks hurt from smiling so much. It didn’t hurt that Brian loved it too!

The proposal: Brian took me painting at the Uncorked Artist in Warminster—it’s one of my favorite drinking activities. I initially thought this was the night that he was going to propose but he had a very convincing story about the ring not being ready for another week. With that said, I decided I didn’t need to dress up for the occasion. (Although, I had been getting my nails done for two months!)

We arrived at the painting place and while we were outside waiting for it to begin, I noticed that Brian’s pocket looked large so I sent a picture of it to my best friend and asked her what her thoughts were. About 30 minutes later, we went outside for a break from the painting. I don’t remember what we talked about; I don’t remember if he seemed nervous. I remember feeling happy. We walked inside and to my surprise the canvas I was painting on was gone and it had been replaced with a painting that Brian made. It said “Jenna, will you marry me?” complete with a stick figure painting of us and our dog, Tanner. I turned around while covering my face in shock, and Brian was down on one knee.

To this day, I stand by the fact that I didn’t hear him propose. I just stared at him and eventually he said, “Well, are you gonna say yes?” So I said “yes!” Now we are planning our lives together and are so excited to see what the future holds!

The band: Since my engagement ring has three diamond bands, I think the wedding band also needs to have diamonds. I have been looking all over and haven’t been completely sold on one yet.
