Pantone Announced Two Color(s) of the Year for 2016

Pantone’s Colors of 2016: Rose Quarts and Serenity.

Pantone, you tricky color institute, you! The experts who determine all things color for the rest of us laypeople have come out with their infallible Color of the Year declaration for 2016 … except for next year, they have announced two colors.

Yes, both Rose Quartz (a soft, pastel pink) and Serenity (a kind of lavender-y periwinkle blue), they say, will be the Thing in 2016; that the two harmonious shades will dominate the landscape in fashion, home decor and design. (You can read all about their thinking in going with two shades this year here.)

Our reaction? Um, wedding perfect! And while they’re not exactly seasonless—the shades as they are in their pure state certainly lend themselves a bit more towards warm-weather weddings—we can see how they could be tweaked a bit to work into the fall and winter. Just use Rose Quartz and Serenity as your inspiration, shift the shades to more of a dusty mauve and silvery lavender, and you’ve still got a gorgeous color scheme for your day.

We have a feeling that even more than the past few years, we’re going to see a lot of inspiration from this particular color combo in the wedding world—we’ll look forward to providing you with some of that ourselves!—and we can hardly wait to see the floral arrangements, bridesmaid dresses, paper and beauty products and gorgeous table decor that’s about to come out of it.

See more from Pantone on 2016’s two main shades here. What do you think? Do you love? Especially you, upcoming spring brides—are you intrigued by this combo for your wedding colors?
