If you are a bride who booked your wedding during the holiday season because it’s the most wonderful and cozy and festive and joyous and love-filled time of year—but are now faced with a lineup of family feasts and cookie-laced holiday parties and wondering how on earth you are going to survive the season without diving headfirst into the eggnog like you usually do so you can still fit into your dress (*raises hand*), well, you are not alone. I am frequently dismayed (though not surprised) to find that a pair of pants or two won’t button during the holidays, and safe to say that’s not a moment I’m looking to have the morning of my wedding.

That’s why I immediately clicked this link that listed seven tips for avoiding typical holiday weight gain—and I am passing them along to you, because all of them strike me as actually doable! (Some I’ve seen are just silly—like avoid alcohol. Please.)

From making sure you’re not starved when you attend parties (which pretty much guarantees you’ll dive headfirst into the eggnog) to alternating alcohol with sparkling water (much more reasonable, and also: bubbles), each tip is something we can keep in our back pockets to make sure there are no frantic calls to our seamstresses the night before the wedding.

Got any other good ones? List ’em below so we all can follow along.
