The couple: Kristen Kelly & Kevin Guirate, from West Norriton.
The ring: My ring is white gold with lots of smaller gorgeously cut diamonds. I absolutely adore it.
Kevin asked for my Pinterest password and went looking through my wedding boards. He was able to find something on Brilliant Earth that is unique and totally fit what I was looking for, all on his own! I love the multiple shapes and how everything is laid out for a modern twist on a vintage classic.
The proposal: Kevin and I are both volunteer fire fighters, so I expected him to incorporate that into the proposal. I was wrong! We took a spur-of-the-moment trip to see Bradley Cooper in The Elephant Man on Broadway. I bought tickets in the car on 95 on the way to NYC—and then we ended up meeting Bradley after the show!
My day could have ended there with scratching meeting a celeb off of my bucket list, though little did I know … We went to dinner at La Pulperia, one of our favorite restaurants in Manhattan (amazing Latin food!) and Kevin got down on one knee in the middle of everyone. It was such a surprise and I couldn’t have asked for anything better!
The band: I’m torn with what to do about a band, but I’ve definitely considered moving my engagement ring to my ring hand and wearing a band by itself. Kevin found a man who makes rings out of old quarters. There are a matching couple’s set of New York rings, and we thought that may be a unique way to remember our engagement setting while saying “I do” in our hometown.
