If You’ve Ever Dreamed of Getting Married Via Webcam, IKEA Can Now Make it Happen

They're now offering vitual wedding ceremonies.

It was only a matter of time before IKEA found its way into the wedding industry, and now the company is making a splash with its new virtual wedding service that lets couples tie the knot in front of family and friends no matter where they are in the world.

Introducing “Wedding Online,” a virtual video conference that allows you to design your dream wedding and have guests both near and far witness your I Do’s by simply sitting in front of their computer’s webcam (basically it’s one big Skype session).

See for yourself:

The bride and groom can choose from an assortment of ceremony and reception settings (there are four festive options for each); set up a time and date; and invite friends and family to stream the whole thing live. The best part: a few of your guests’ faces will be superimposed on the little bodies seated at the venue.

Of course, for all of this to be legal and all, the couple will have to be in the same room as the officiant and two witnesse—but it’s a cool service to test out just for fun, too.

Read more about the service here. And please do let us know if you give it a go!
