Whenever we crunch a few numbers here at PW and jot down a list of the posts that you, our lovely readers, are clicking on most, the majority of our most popular posts will come from the previous week. The exception: this post, which chronicles our editor’s experience at a boudoir photo shoot. It always lands somewhere in our top 10.

Boudoir photo shoots have become somewhat of a trend over the past few years, and it seems like more and more women—and especially brides-to-be—are stripping down to their laciest lingerie to have a few sexy photos snapped for their significant others. And we don’t blame them: When all of the images are put together in a luxe leather album, it makes for a really special gift. (We love it given the morning of the Big Day!)

Since the idea of a boudoir photo shoot seems to be piquing your interest, we thought we’d put together a little guide to where you can schedule a session of your own right here in Philly. Take a look below and if you decide to do a shoot, let us know how it goes!

Ashley Gerrity Photography
Where: 1118 Pine Street, Midtown Village; sessions take place at your home or a location of your choosing.
What: Philly wedding photographer Ashley Gerrity has teamed up with local makeup artist Aleksandra Ambrozy to bring you the complete boudoir experience in the comfort of your own home (or at a local hotel if you don’t want your bedroom as a backdrop). Sessions begin at $500 and include professional hair and makeup, your choice of two outfits and an online gallery of 25-30 hand-edited portraits. Additional albums and prints are available too.

Brittney Raine Photography
Where: Sessions take place at your home or at a local bed and breakfast.
What: At first glance, it’s easy to see that local lifestyle and wedding photographer Brittney Raine is passionate about her work, and her enthusiasm and silly demeanor will make you feel super comfortable while posing in your pretty underthings. Raine has worked with a ton of brides-to-be who do a boudoir shoot as a gift to their guy, but she also encourages women to do it for themselves as a little confidence boost. Her session fee is $350 for an hour and a half shoot and includes 50 edited digital images with the option to purchase a magazine or book of curated photos.

Dollface Studio
Where: 1639 North Hancock Street, #408, Northern Liberties
What: We told you about our editor’s experience at Dollface Studio and there are plenty of other Philly ladies who will second her sentiments. For your appointment, the Dollface team—which includes hair and makeup artists—can set up shop in your home, if that’s where you’re most comfortable, or you can take advantage of the sexy, vintage-inspired sets their NoLibs studio has to offer. Afterwards, your photos will be available online in a password protected gallery and you’ll have the option of ordering prints or an album. Studio sessions begin at $425 and in-home shoots cost $850.

Haute Boudoir Photography
Where: Based in Wilmington; sessions take place at your home or a location of your choosing.
What: Want to get your bridesmaids in on the action too? Kristen Hudson-Nichols offers both private and group boudoir sessions, which can take place at your home, a hotel or any location of your choosing. Before your appointment, a consultation with Hudson-Nichols will help to establish the goals and aesthetic for the shoot (her style is influenced by her background in advertising and commercial photography), and afterwards she’ll meet with you to review the photos and discuss retouching and editing options. She can suggest hair and makeup professionals too, if you want to pamper yourself before the shoot. Sessions begin at $550 if it’s just you and $300 per person for groups.

Simply | Beautiful Boudoir
Where: Havertown
What: At the helm here is Kylene Cleaver, who’s also the visionary behind wedding and portrait studio Leave It To Me Photography. At Simply | Beautiful Boudoir, Cleaver aims to make every client feel comfortable and confident during their shoot and does so by selecting the perfect poses for their body type and asking questions like, “What do you love about your body?” Prior to your two hour appointment, Cleaver will share with you her Pinterest board of outfit and makeup ideas in case you need a bit of inspiration for your session. Sessions take place at Cleaver’s in-home studio and cost $600, including an 8×8 album with 20 of your favorite edited photos (upgrades and additional items are available too).
