The ring: My ring is white gold with a twist band and a cushion-cut diamond with a diamond halo.
About a year and a half ago, we went to Sydney Rosen along Jewelers’ Row in Philly, and TC ended up picking out this gorgeous ring for me to look at. He kicked me out of the store so he could talk to the owner, but in the end, he said that he wasn’t purchasing the first ring we found, and that we should keep looking.
A year and a few months later, when he proposed to me, I opened the box to the same beautiful, breathtaking ring that we found all that time ago. He secretly bought it that day we were in there. I was speechless.
The proposal: About a year after that ring-shopping trip, TC had asked for my dad for my hand, and so the next step was (supposedly) once again finding the perfect ring. So we planned a date in Philly, and the plan was to go to a movie—and go ring shopping.
We parked a few blocks down from the Ritz (our favorite movie theatre) and because we were there early, we walked around historic Philly, enjoying the rose garden where they created and signed the Constitution. TC stopped at the car once to grab something, and then we crossed the street to another beautiful little park where the creek had dried up and there was this beautiful willow tree. I remember admiring it and thinking that I wanted one in our future yard.
We got to the bridge and he asked me to sit down. I was curious about why, but I sat down. He gives me this bag and says that he got me an end-of-the-year present for my first year of teaching. I opened it and found an iPad box and started crying (I really wanted an iPad!). He crouched down in front of me, and jokingly I said, “Get up! People will think you’re proposing to me with an iPad!” Little did I know that also in that box, there was a video rolling and a ring box right below it … holding the exact ring from that one day in Philly, which he purchased that day. I was floored. I am not easily surprised at all, so the fact that this boy completely stunned me was amazing. It was beyond awesome. Now Philly will be a place that I will cherish even more than before. That was my perfect proposal.
The band: The wedding band I want is a simple, thin diamond band to compliment my engagement ring. If I can find the perfect one, I’d even go for a very delicate weave with the diamonds so that if I wear it alone, it still has character to it.
