I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t sitting here totally drooling over my computer screen as I scroll through the adorably indulgent desserts at Graduate Hospital’s newest sweet spot, The Baker’s Jar.

This is a bakery that turns out chocolate bread pudding, dulce de leche brownies, and honest-to-goodness birthday cake served, adorably, in perfectly-portioned mason jars. Need we say more? (Join us in drooling over the entire menu, here.) These are just a few of the many tempting cakes, pies, and gooey delights that owner and Philadelphia transplant Avery Goldman is packing into her petite treats—a concept that was inspired by her goal to create simple, functional, and decadent desserts.

“I want my baked goods to feel homey and warm, but with an elevated edge,” she says. “Simple and sweet really is my motto, I don’t need to reinvent the wheel to make people happy.”

All varieties—including seasonal flavors that are constantly changing—are available in both standard ($5) and mini-sized ($3.50) jars, with the option of ordering full-size cakes and pies, too. Goldman also bakes a mean cookie, in flavors like chocolate chunk and white chocolate lavender.

A bonus for our brides-to-be: The Baker’s Jar offers catering and custom labeling, ideal for a whimsical dessert bar at your shower or pint-size favors for your guests to snack on after the reception. “I’m happy to work with customers regarding special flavors they might like, or colors to match their wedding,” says Goldman, “And though I don’t do traditional three-tiered cakes, I offer the option of getting bunch of smaller cakes which can vary in flavor and size.”

We think we know what we’ll be having for “lunch” today.
