A while back Sean and I attempted our first wedding registry at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. We found it to be an incredibly overwhelming experience, and while we left it incomplete, hadn’t revisited the whole thing until recently.
As we are approaching the 100-days-til-our-wedding mark, we are trying to tie up all the loose ends in our planning. One of these loose ends was completing our registry.
Since most of the various department and home goods stores carry many of the same items, I decided that I’d choose our second registry location by their dinnerware. After looking over the selections at Macy’s, Pottery Barn, West Elm, Target, and more, I found just what I was looking for at Crate & Barrel. Since Sean doesn’t really care about our dishes, he deferred to me on this decision.
Crate & Barrel offers registry events every other Sunday morning. So, I signed us up for one at the Cherry Hill location last weekend. The event itself was nice: the store was open only to registering couples and they offered us fruit, muffins, coffee and juice. Wedding consultants were on hand to answer any questions we might have, but we were free to roam the store, scanning at will.
While the first go at registering was borderline stressful, this time around was a breeze! I’d pre-selected the dinnerware line I liked online, so we immediately sought it out and added place settings for eight. After that, we casually made our way around the store. Being people who love to cook and entertain, we made sure to register for lots of serving bowls, cheese boards, and dessert plates. We’d taken care of registering for most of our appliances at BB&B, so we were able to breeze through that section without much to add. A few times we saw items we liked better than those we had already selected at BB&B, so we added them, and then I amended the BB&B registry online once we got home. All in all, we were finished registering in about an hour and a half, and we’d had a good time doing it!
To make managing your registry super-easy, Crate & Barrel offers an app to do just that. I had downloaded the app prior to our visit and learned that I could use it to scan items with my phone into my registry. We opted not to do that, since Sean really likes being in charge of the scan-gun, but it is a cool feature we might use if we were ever to return. You can also log onto the app to add and delete items from the web. So, when we got home, I was able to look over what we selected and remove duplicates, update numbers requested, and delete ridiculous things Sean had added when I wasn’t paying attention.
If you are still looking for a place to register, I would highly recommend checking out Crate & Barrel. While I like BB&B for appliances and some bigger ticket items (that 20-percent off coupon they are always mailing is really great when it comes to those), I really like Crate & Barrel for their detail and specialty items.
Sean and I are very pleased with the registry we’ve put together, and are even more pleased to be done with the process.
PS: We’ve decided to forgo the honeymoon registry for now. We are happy with the two we’ve got!
