We should all give a big thanks to our buds at Be Well Philly for pointing out this study that brings some pretty fab news to us ladies: Apparently, working out four times a week—not less, but even better, not more—is optimal for women when it comes to building strength, losing body fat, and maintaining energy.
You can read all the details here, but basically, the study found that the physical results from women working out twice a week were pretty much equal to those who sweated it out four or six times a week—but that the ladies who got active four times a week had the most energy. They were expending it more, they felt great, and they weren’t too tired from working out 24/7 to be active and productive during their “down” time.
That’s especially interesting for brides, we thought, because your engagement time is not just about working out in order to look fab in that dress, after all. During your “down” time when you’re not at work, sleeping or engaged in social obligations, we know you’ve got to get stuff done. You need to make lists, make phone calls, make decisions, and, generally, make 1,000 other things happen, and so you definitely don’t want to be exhausted when you sit down and know you’ve got to cross that stuff off your list.
