On Thursday, November 12, 2009, The Delaware Valley Association for the Education of Young Children (DVAEYC) held their annual Champion for Young Children event at the Comcast Center. Guests of this family event were entertained by award-winning book characters from Harold and the Purple Crayon, performed by Enchantment Theatre Company. This year’s award recipient was Senator Robert P. Casey, who also received a citation from the City of Philadelphia from Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds Brown for his efforts to support early education. On Sunday, November 8, 2009, the Deborah Hospital Foundation held their Fourth-Annual Red Tie Gala at the Park Hyatt Regency, Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia. The evening included dinner, dancing, and live entertainment. An auction helped the Foundation raise $270,000 for cardiac care.

On Friday, November 6, 2009, the Ronald McDonald House held their 35th Birthday Party at the Please Touch Museum. The event featured an address by Mayor Michael Nutter, along with the presentation of the first-ever Dr. Audrey E. Evans Award of Excellence to Dr. Jean Bennett, Dr. Katherine High, and Dr. Albert Maguire for their work in reversing congenital childhood blindness. On Saturday, October 31, 2009, Rittenhouse Row treated kids to some Halloween fun. The day's events included a costume party, trick-or-treating, and a Halloween party at G Lounge. Children received plenty of candy as well as treats from local businesses.
