The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation held the second annual Tennis Auction Ball (much more fun to call it The Tennis Ball though) on Saturday, September 11th at the Four Seasons Hotel. Master of Ceremonies was Frank DeFord, author (remember Everybody's All-American?) and Sports Illustrated senior writer. He also reads a weekly sports column on NPR every Wednesday morning. Even those of us who don't know an interception from our elbows enjoy it. DeFord has served as National Chairman of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for the past 16 years, honoring his daughter Alex, who died of the disease.

La Fete d'Automne, a.k.a. the annual Young Friends of the Philadelphia Art Museum's Rodin Party, was held Thursday, September 9th. One of the better parties for the 25-40 age group, the Rodin Party once again delivered - a slew of well-heeled, attractive young professionals in high spirits converged upon the Rodin Museum at 22nd and the Parkway.

The Print Center hosted an opening party for their most recent exhibition featuring Re-Pose by Isaac Diggs, Photoplay by Jenny Lynn, and For You by Liliana Porter. The artists were on hand for questions and conversation as patrons milled about the galleries, wines in hand.

The National Constitution Center presented William Coleman with an award for a lifetime of achievement in civic engagement on Saturday, September 23rd. Mr. Coleman started his career as Secretary of Transportation under President Ford and went on to work in law, business and public service. Coleman was presented the award by Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, with an introduction by Peter Jennings of ABC News. Granddaughter, Flavia Colgan (you know her as a political analyst on MSNBC) was on hand as well. Proceeds from the awards dinner will benefit educational programming at the National Constitution Center.

The Mann Center for the Performing Arts celebrated their 28th anniversary with a Broadway-themed gala under tents at the top of the hill on Tuesday, August 10th. After the sit-down dinner, the concert featured Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops backed Tony Award winner Faith Prince.
