The kickoff party for the Army Navy weekend was held at the ballroom at the Convention Center on Friday, December 5th. Despite the miserable weather, the headcount numbered over 1500. Several women were seen by the coatcheck exchanging boots for their party shoes.

Welcome to the ultimate in home decor, furnishings and technology. In a period of a little over a year, two 3,500+ square foot flats have been transformed into multi-million dollar, luxurious, state-of-the art homes in a high-rise environment in the heart of Center City. After more than a year of designing and detailing, the doors to Philadelphia magazine's Design Home 2003 ™ - City Living at the Lanesborough are now open for a grand tour. Tickets are $25 and 100% of the proceeds benefit MANNA.

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts hosted the sixth annual Marian Anderson Award gala. Oprah Winfrey was the special guest this year. Commonwealth Plaza in the Kimmel Center was decked out for dinner before the concert. Performers included Kathleen Battle, Quincy Jones, Lionel Richie, and Thomas Floyd.

The American Cancer Society held their annual fundraising gala auction at the Westin hotel. This ball was called the Crusaders' Ball in previous years – now it's the American Cancer Society Ball. Same great party though – consistently one of the better silent auctions, and the Women's Committee put together another adorable gift bag for the women guests. Everyone knows someone whose life has been affected by cancer, perhaps that's why this ball is always so well attended and supported.

Another bar joins the Philadelphia night scene – but this one fills a gap north of Rittenhouse. Tragos opened their three-story lounge on Saturday, November 22nd despite one of the upstairs rooms not being quite finished. They dealt with that by dimming the lights – waaaay down. Upstairs there's a tequila bar and tapa menu, and like some other area bars, they offer bottle service. You can find them on 19th Street between Chestnut and Market Streets. Unless of course you are a genuwine VIP – then you can enter on Ranstead and 19th.
