On Monday, March 19, 2012, The National Disease Research Interchange (NDRI) honored Lee Ducat at a tribute dinner at the Rittenhouse Hotel, bringing together the world’s leading scientists and researchers for the occasion. More than 150 guests were in attendance, and they enjoyed a cocktail hour and dinner before a speaking program where colleagues and researchers celebrated Ducat’s accomplishments. The creator of NDRI, Ducat also founded the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. During the tribute dinner, singer/actress and longtime friend Gloria Loring performed an original song, which she composed and centered around her son and his diagnosis of diabetes. On Sunday, March 11, 2012, more than 100 brides-to-be and their guests gathered at Arts Ballroom for Philadelphia Wedding’s Brides, Bubbly & Brunch event. On Wednesday, March 7, 2012, more than 300 brides, grooms, mothers and 'maids headed to the Philadelphia International Flower Show for Philadelphia Wedding's Wedding Wednesday. Guests experienced the region's top wedding specialists, enjoyed hors d'oeuvres by Eatible Delights Catering and listened to lively music provided by DJ Eddie Tully. On Monday, March 5, 2012, G Philly hosted its second annual LGBT Night Out at the Philadelphia International Flower Show. Over 300 members of Philadelphia's LGBT community enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and sampled Hawaiian-themed cocktails featuring Smirnoff's Whipped Cream and Fluffed Marshmallow flavored vodkas. Bartending for the evening were none other than G Philly's favorite bartenders: Austin Algeo of Woody's, Angela Bibey of Stir, Tony Nguyen of Voyeur and John Russo of ICandy. On Thursday, March 1, 2012, more than 75 people gathered at Macy’s Center City Grand Court for the official launch of the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator at Macy’s Center City designer-in-residence program. Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter, Terry Lundgren, Macy’s Inc. Chairman, President and CEO, and Paul Levy, Center City District President and CEO, revealed the inaugural class of the five selected emerging Philadelphia-area designers that will be provided the tools and resources needed to launch a successful fashion design company in Philadelphia. After a private ribbon-cutting ceremony, the selected designers joined family, friends and supporters for a reception complete with light bites, refreshments and organ music.
