On Tuesday, March 2, 2010, the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania held the 24th Annual Take the Lead awards at the Rittenhouse Hotel. This year’s honorees were City Councilwoman-at-Large Blondell Reynolds Brown; Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Judge Annette Rizzo; and Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition CEO and President Sharmain Matlock-Turner. Judy Spires, president of Acme Markets, received the 2010 recipient Juliette Gordon Low Leadership Award. Guests enjoyed a pre-event reception, which raised $189,000 to support Council programming and services for 31,000 girls and 12,000 adult members in its nine-county region. On Saturday, February 27, 2010, the 2010 Philadelphia International Flower Show Black-Tie Preview Party was held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Guests enjoyed gourmet hors d'oeuvres and cocktails while strolling through the beautiful garden displays of this year's show, "Passport to the World." The night ended with dinner in the Grand Ballroom. Proceeds benefited the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society's outreach efforts including its acclaimed greening program Philadelphia Green. On Friday, February 26, 2010, local filmmaker Don Argott celebrated the Philadelphia debut of his documentary The Art of the Steal at the Ritz 5 in Old City. The showing was followed by a Q&A session with Argott, producer Sheena Joyce, executive producer Lenny Feinberg, and editor Demian Fenton.
