The Philadelphia Museum of Art presents the first exhibition to survey the achievement of the great Impressionist painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841-1919) during the last three decades before his death. From June 17 through September 6, some 80 of the artist's paintings, sculpture, and drawings will be on view, accompanied by a selection of works by Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Pierre Bonnard, and others who were inspired by the master. A landmark exhibition, Late Renoir examines new directions that the artist explored several decades after he and others such as Claude Monet and Camille Pissarro created the new style of painting known as Impressionism. This new and widely admired phase in Renoir's career propelled him into the modern age and, at the same time, enabled him to recapture a classical past with expressive brushwork and a palette of sensuous colors that were both lyrical and decorative. On June 9, several local dads were recognized at a cocktail reception at Saks Fifth Avenue in Bala Cynwyd. The winning fathers were chosen by a panel of judges based on their generosity and dedication to their families and communities. A portion of Men’s Collection sales made during the event benefited the Montgomery Child Advocacy Project (MCAP).

Gloria Guard, one of Philadelphia’s most recognized and valued advocates for people living in poverty said goodbye to her beloved People’s Emergency Center (PEC) and the people she has served for decades when she was presented with the 2010 Imprint Award on Tuesday, June 8. On June 8th, Girard College President hosted Taste of Summer, a fund-raising event to support the school and its ESF Dream Camp program. At the Taste of Summer fund-raiser, guests were invited to evoke their inner child and enjoy an evening dedicated to the joys of summer including camp-inspired cuisine provided by DiBruno Brothers. On Saturday, June 5th, runners and members from the Police, Firefighter and Correctional Officer communities gathered in Fairmount Park in support of the Second Annual Badges of Honor 5K Run. The race was established to strengthen the relationship between Philadelphia’s public safety employees and the communities they heroically serve. The Badges of Honor 5K Run honors Philadelphia’s police officers, firefighters and correctional officers, who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
