On Saturday, October 29, 2009, Women Against Abuse held their 2nd Annual Dish it Up! evening at Moore College of Art and Design. Women Against Abuse united with ten of Philadelphia's top culinary women at Dish It Up! to raise money for the mission against domestic violence and compete for the first ever “Purple Dish Award,” which was presented by Major Michael Nutter. Guests enjoyed dancing, food and dessert tastings, exclusive complimentary cocktails, and a screening of the PBS documentary "Big Cities, Big Solutions," which highlights the work of Women Against Abuse. On October 29th 2009 The Workshop opened its doors for the first time with a glamorous evening of fashion and Japanese fare. The Workshop, owned and operated by Artur Kirsch, will focus on building and education clients at a fraction of the cost. The evening featured red carpet fashions by Neiman Marcus and light bites by Philly's latest Japanese gastro pub, Zama.

On Thursday, October 29, 2009, The Terri Lynne Lokoff Child Care Foundation held their Annual Adult Play Date fundraiser. The event honored AstraZeneca, Harriet Dichter — deputy Secretary, Office of Child Development and Early Learning in Pennsylvania — and pediatrician Dr. Madeleine Weiser for their dedication to improving the quality of child care for all children. All proceeds of the event went to the foundation.

On Wednesday, October 28, 2009, Saks Fifth Avenue sponsored an evening of cocktails and a private viewing of the exhibit "Inspiring Fashion: Gifts From Designers Honoring Tom Marotta" at the Perelman Building in Philadelphia.
