On Tuesday, May 12, 2009, The Phoenix Salon & Spa and Project H.O.M.E. teamed up for the Third Annual Women Empowering Women Event: A Night of Fashion and Compassion. Held in the Atrium of the luxury Phoenix Condominiums, the night of fashion and fun included silent auctions, food and refreshments along with a runway show. With more than 300 guests in attendance, the event raised $54,610 for Project H.O.M.E. Photography by Shira Yudkoff.

On Monday, May 11, 2009, Phillies’ pitcher Cole Hamels and wife Heidi Hamels hosted a carnival at the Carousel House Memorial Hall in the Please Touch Museum in Fairmount Park. The proceeds benefited their foundation, which aims to encourage and support community values and education in Philadelphia inner-city schools and also in in Malawi, Africa. On Monday, May 11, 2009, the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia held its 16th Annual Achievement Awards Luncheon in Grand Ballroom at the Park Hyatt Philadelphia at the Bellevue. Co-chairmen of the luncheon were Mayor Nutter and Governor Rendell, who presented awards to individuals, organizations, and projects for their achievements in historic preservation. On Saturday, May 9, 2009, The Wellness Community Of Philadelphia held its 11th Annual “Evening In The Park” awards ceremony and celebration at The Suzanne Morgan Center in Fairmount Park. Guests enjoyed cocktails, dinner, music, and the presentation of awards to various community members. The event brought out 260 guests and raised $265,000 for the organization.
