On Friday, October 2, 2009, the Friends of Laurel Hill Cemetery held their fifth-annual Gravedigger's Ballat at the Crystal Tea Room. This year's event was in honor of famed Philadelphia broadcaster, Harry Kalas. Guests enjoyed a cocktail hour, dinner, dancing, and silent and live auctions. All proceeds went to support the work of the Friends of Laurel Hill Cemetery.

On Friday, October 2, 2009, the Foundation for Breast & Prostate Health hosted its 15th-Annual Give the Shirt Off Your Back! gala at the Rittenhouse Hotel. It was a striking evening, with guests adorned in black and white evening wear, décor by Evantine Design, and cuisine by the five-star Rittenhouse Hotel. On Thursday, October 1, 2009, Philadelphia magazine’s Let’s Do Cocktails event took place at The Loews Hotel in Center City Philadelphia. Guests sipped on the season's coolest cocktails, enjoyed food from Philadelphia restaurants, and danced to music from DJ Joey Blanco. On Thursday, October 1, 2009, the Utley All-Star Animals, including Jennifer Utley, Johari Smith, Nicole Cashman, and Gail Scardapane hosted a night of shopping to benefit the Pennsylvania SPCA at Boyds. Ten percent of all sales went to the foundation. Shoppers could also participate in a silent auction, which featured one-of-a-kind pet statues.
