On Thursday, September 25, 2008, at North Bowl in Northern Liberties, Philadelphia Magazine held the 4th Annual Cocktail Competition. Experts mixed inventive cocktails and guests enjoyed bowling, modern bites and music by DJ Jon Gill. This year's top prize went to The Rain Blossom Martini by Organics Vodka. All proceeds benefited Helpusadopt.org.

On Thursday, September 25, 2008, Pileggi Boutique, kicked off the fall fashion season with an instore cocktail party. Shoppers browsed the racks of new fall merchandise and enjoyed cocktails, fresh fare from Oceanaire and a special, one-night-only discount.

Philadelphia's top chefs partnered with the city's top doctors on Wednesday, September 24, 2008, to create fantastic gluten-free dishes at the fifth anniversary gala of the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness. On Friday, September 19, 2008, the Pier Shops at Caesars hosted Uncorked, a wine tasting event featuring wines from around the world. Specially hors d'oeurvres were provided by Phillips Seafood, Sonsie, Buddakan, The Continental, Game On!, Souzai and The Trinity Pub. Former Philadelphia Flyer Dave Shultz was also on hand with wines from the NHL Alumni Signature Wine Series. A portion of the proceeds benefited charities chosen by the players.
