Okooko: Philadelphia celebrated its opening on Thursday, October 4th, with an evening of New Zealand-inspired hors d’oeuvres, 42 Below cocktails, and a live performance by the Kahurnagi Maori Dance Theatre of New Zealand. Okooko, Maori for “cradle in arms,” is the first U.S. retail store of the New Zealand-based bedroom furniture manufacturer Design Mobel.

The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts hosted a reception for Bacchanal! 2007 sponsors and benefactors on Thursday, October 4th, kicking off a month of wine events.

The Young Scholars Charter School hosted "Reach for the Stars with Wynton Marsalis" at the Kimmel Center on Thursday, October 4th. Proceeds will benefit the academically accelerated middle school, which emphasizes reading and language arts, mathematics and science.
