On July 27, 2005, World Cafe Live became alive with the Best of Philly winners party 2005. Sponsored by Mercedes Benz, Hi Fi House, Sharp, Penns Grove Riverwalk, USTA Middle States section, Bank of America, and benefiting the Mural Arts Program, the party was a huge success. With almost 400 different categories from Best Hoagie to Best Urban Spa, the winners and guests enjoyed the unveiling of The Best of Philly issue which hit newstands on August 1st. Jay and Liz Scott, Alex's parents of Alex's Lemonade stand were wholeheartedly honored as The Best Philadelphians. Don't forget to pick up a copy of the Best of Philly issue on sale now.

Charles"Charlie Mack" Alston, long time aide to Hollywood Mega star Will Smith, has produced a series of charity events titled "Charlie Mack Party 4 Peace Celebrity Weekend". The events benefited both Mothers in Charge, a Philadelphia-based victims advocate group that supports women who lost loved ones due to violent crimes, and other Philadelphia area non-profit anti-violence groups.

The Philadelphia Zoo's biggest and best family event The Razzel Dazzel Friends Picnic is an event that benifits Friends of the Philadelphia Zoo. It was held on Thursday July 21st from 6-9pm. Guests enjoyed great food, music, and lots of fun from the zoo's summer adventure, Zoozapalooza: Search for Treasure.

The 11th Philadelphia International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival presented by The Philadelphia Film Society was held on July 17-18th from 7:15pm-1:00am. The Closing Night Extravaganza featured an Awards Ceremony for the Jury and Audience Award Winners, followed by a Screening of The Dying Gaul. To end things on a fun note, The winners and friends indulged themselves on the beautiful outdoor patio of Commerce Square. Here one could meet festival stars and dance to DJ Brian Sokel; a special bonus were the here! gift bags given to partiers as another year of gay & lesbian cinema came to a close.
